Here are several things that we recommend you look for and pay attention to when you're searching for a home on the Crystal Coast.
1. Look at homes in your budget.
Getting pre-approved and making sure you know what you can afford is the first step in the home buying process. It's important to only consider homes in your budget so that you don't fall in love with something outside of your budget.
2. Proximity to water.
One of the main reasons families purchase homes on the Crystal Coast is because of the ocean and beaches. Whether you're purchasing a full time home or second home at the beach, you may want to consider its proximity to the sound or ocean.
3. Location. Location. Location.
If you have children in school, it may be important to consider location in regards to schools, parks, sports fields and other areas. Depending on your family, you may want to be in a neighborhood with a pool or you may want to be on some land with more privacy.
4. Condition of the home - inside and out.
Homes near the coast where salt water is present can suffer from damages due to the exposure to salt. This includes any materials that may rust - windows, doors, even the HVAC unit. Depending on the location of the home, it may also be in a flood zone. It's important to check for moisture or any previous water damage.
