It's Thanksgiving week and we can't wait for all of the festivities and feasts that are to come. Are you hosting your family's gathering this year? We know how stressful it can be to plan and cook to ensure that everything goes smoothly. Here are some fool proof tips to help you prepare and execute the perfect Thanksgiving gathering with your friends and family.
1. Create a menu and meal plan.
Ask people to bring a dish. If your mother-in-law fixes the best pumpkin pie, ask her to bring it. Then make a grocery list of all the ingredients you'll need for the dishes you'll be making.
2. Take out your dishes, serve ware and appliances and clean them.
Lay out your casserole dishes and serve ware and determine what food will be in which dish. Clean your flatware, dishes and glasses. Set the table the night before.
3. Plan your decor and keep it simple.
A simple tablecloth with pumpkins or florals will do. Don't over do it. You can even use fruit or nuts that look festive.
4. Establish a timeline.
For example, if you have overnight guests prep a one dish breakfast such as egg casserole or quiche that will be ready around 9am. Have appetizers and snacks that people can help themselves to around 1pm. Begin serving the main meal around 2:30pm. Aim for desert and coffee a couple of hours later around 5pm so people have time to digest.
5. Have a plan for leftovers.
Make sure you have foil containers for to-gos for your guests so you don't have to give away your tupperware.
At Chalk and Gibbs we are so thankful for all of our clients and the families who allow us to help them throughout the year. We wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season!
